Disabled Living Loan Library - Funded by the Department of Health

The Disabled Living Foundation is a UK-wide charity which provides impartial information on disability equipment for the general public. The NHS does not supply most of the equipment they have on offer and the purchase cost of most items are £15-£35 if you wish to buy. For 45 years they have built up an unparalleled range of information on daily living equipment and other useful advice for people who might need some help in living their lives to the full.

The Department of Health has funded them to start a loan library which covers England. In short they are offering people the opportunity to borrow equipment for two weeks. You can decide whether or not you want to buy it. If you do, they can send you an impartial list of national suppliers from whom you can purchase the item(s). There are memory prompts to help people with memory difficulties to remember to do things like take medication, vision impairment equipment to help those people who cannot see well and general safety and alarm equipment.
